I read them the story Measuring Penny, which is a story about a girl who decides to use her dog to complete her measuring homework. She uses a variety of measuring units (inches, pounds, cups, time, etc.) to complete her assignment. After listening to Measuring Penny, the students got to create their very own Penny! Since there is not much time for arts and crafts these days, the kids had a blast and were psyched when I pulled out the construction paper! They made a Penny and then of course had to measure their pooches body parts.
